A Few Forum Browsing Tips

#1 Postby Redux » Wed Apr 09, 2008 10:52 am

Hey all,

While this may seem trivial and obvious to some of you, not everyone isas tech-savvy! The following are a few tips to help you get around theforum a little easier. Again, most of it you will probably know buteven if it helps one or two people, it's worth the notice!

1) NEW POSTS:
Imagethis image beside a section means there are NO new posts since your last visit.

Imagethis image beside a section means there ARE new posts since your last visit (or you have not read all the posts)

2) MARKING _________ AS READ

When you mark something as read (forum/ topic...there are links on each), it will make the board think that you've (obviously) read the entire forum or entire topic. This is good for new members if you don't want to go throughreading every single topic, and want to get a fresh start -- you willthen only see the Imageimage after a new post.

3) THE SEARCH FUNCTION WORKS

When using the search function your best bet is to narrow your results. for example:
if you merely search Oil Change -- you get 201 results.

But, if in the Search page you search for Oil Change -> set it to search only in the DIY Section -> set "Display Results As" Topics (instead of Posts) you get five results, all linking to a DIY on various oil changes.

4) THE TUCSONDRIVERS.COM LOGO AT THE TOP....

is a big shortcut to bring you to the index page.

5) THE 'VIEW NEW POSTS' BUTTON IS NIFTY

and it pretty much explains itself! Give it a shot if you haven't already. It will show you what has been posted since you were last here. It's at the top right, just below the date and time.

Hope these help a few people!

Matt
Rest In Peace, Antoon Coolen & Itza -- You brought a smile to all faces of the forum.
